The Sacrament of Confirmation, along with Baptism and Eucharist, is one of the three sacraments of initiation. At Confirmation the Holy Spirit strengthens the baptized Christian and endows her or him with gifts to enable us to carry out our mission to be Christ in the world and to continue building God’s kingdom. To be fully initiated member of the Catholic Church, one needs to be baptized, confirmed and receive first Eucharist.
The process of preparation at Our Lady of the Lake is open to youth in grades 7 through 11 and is offered through our youth ministry program. The journey of preparation invites boys and girls to deepen his/her relationship with Jesus.
Effective in May of 2016, the Diocese of Cleveland has issued guidelines which are asking parishes to extend the period of preparation over a two-year period.
We invite those seeking the sacrament of Confirmation to begin their preparation for full initiation into the Catholic Church by calling 216-486-0850 or emailing Mr. Shawn Witmer for more information on the preparation process.
This year our group was confirmed on Sunday, May 28 at the Noon Mass at Our Lady of the Lake. We had a professional photographer take photos during Mass. You will receive a complimentary professional photo of your child being Confirmed. Also, a group photo was taken and available for purchase. See all of the pictures.
Baptized adults who have not been Confirmed should call the Parish Office for guidance regarding adult preparation for Confirmation.
