I have always liked scripture passages that were descriptive in nature, as I can visualize in my mind the whole scenario as it is being described. Firstly, I like the name of Lazarus being used, as that name also figures in a resurrection story elsewhere. At times though, upon hearing this passage proclaimed, I am often moved to pity for the rich man. He is at least thinking of his family & wanting to spare them his awful fate, thinking that if they would see Lazarus that they would change their ways, But then again, recalling Thomas, “Blessed are those who have not seen, yet believed.”
